Istria was and is one of the most popular vacational regions on the Mediterranean Coast. History, culture and sun are combined here in an excellent way. One of the oldest and most famous, even abroad, cities is Pula with its famous Roman Amphitheatre, one of the greatest of its time.
Pula is a wonderful city for a choir exchange, where the hot temper of the Balkans gets trasmitted over to the participants! Enjoy at the most beautiful time of the year with a boat trip and many other tours, or with extensions to Trieste or Venice.
During the Friendship Concerts in churches or concert halls you can meet choirs from several other countries. The atmosphere of the old churches, simple looking from the outside, and with a splendid interior, is outstanding and an amazing experience. We can organise church services and church concerts on a Sunday morning for you if you’d like that.
The highlight of the festival is the common concert of all participating choirs in the centre of Pula. The magnificent concert hall from the imperial-royal period is the perfect place for such an event and brings the choirs closer to the Croatian cultural history.
The social highlight is the Farewell-Dinner the last evening in one of the hotels overlooking directly the sea. A large cold and warm buffet, with included drinks (beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks), and a music band spread, within a short time, a lively and happy atmosphere among all the choirs. This farewell dinner is the best opportunity to communicate and interact with many singers from other countries.
It is easy to come to Istria: You can come on a flight to the airports of Pula or Trieste or – what an experience – on a flight to Venice and by speedboat to Rovinj! You can combine this festival with a stay in Venice or Trieste or you can visit some other famous towns of Croatia like Zadar and Dubrovnik. Choirs from overseas can combine the Cantate Croatia with the Cantate Adriatica!
